BIMINI BARTENDER BALM

Our Story

How does a gin distillery end up making hand lotion?

We use the highest quality organic, Fair Trade Certified extra virgin coconut oil to fat-wash Bimini Coconut Gin. During this process, the coconut oil absorbs some of the aromatics of our gin botanicals, retaining a delicate aroma even after being filtered. Rather than waste this gin-scented coconut oil, we began researching ways to up-cycle it into a new product. At the same time, we realized that it’s really hard to find skincare products that meet the specific needs of bartenders on a shift: fast absorbing, dry finish, moisturizing, soothing, no lingering fragrance.

After two years of R&D and a lot of feedback from industry pros, we landed on a formula that meets the needs of service workers as well as a lotion can. In addition to the moisturizing and protective nature of coconut oil, we include other skin-friendly ingredients, like aloe vera to soothe redness, and zinc oxide to reduce inflammation and help create a dry finish. With no added fragrance, you can enjoy the beautiful scent of Bimini Gin while applying the lotion, but the aroma dissipates quickly, leaving no trace on tools or glassware.

Like Bimini Gin, we make and bottle Bimini Bartender Balm ourselves in small batches at our distillery in Maine. The mono-material bottle is made from 50% post-consumer recycled plastic that can be washed and reused or recycled. Distilling is a resource-heavy endeavor and we strive to be as sustainable and responsible as possible.
